BASECOAT ("the App") is a skincare routine tracker for men. Your privacy matters. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
Skin profile information. When you complete the onboarding quiz, the App stores your skin type, skin tone (Monk Scale), concerns, sensitivity level, sun exposure habits, routine level, and budget preference. This data is stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults and is never transmitted to our servers.
Routine and progress data. Your daily routine completions, streak counts, scores, check-ins, and score history are stored locally on your device.
Photos (AI Skin Scan). If you use the AI Skin Scan feature, your selfie photo is sent to our secure API proxy for AI analysis. Photos are processed in real time and are not stored on our servers after analysis is complete. We do not retain, save, or share your photos.
Photos (Product Scanner). If you use the Product Scanner feature, ingredient label photos are processed entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework. These photos never leave your device.
Progress photos. Progress photos you take are stored locally on your device and are never uploaded to any server.
Anthropic API. The AI Skin Scan feature uses the Anthropic Claude API, proxied through our Cloudflare Worker. Your selfie is sent to Anthropic for analysis. Anthropic's data handling is governed by their privacy policy. Per Anthropic's API terms, data submitted via the API is not used to train their models.
Apple StoreKit. Subscription purchases are handled entirely through Apple's in-app purchase system. We do not process or store payment information.
Product links. The App contains links to skincare products on Amazon. Clicking these links takes you to Amazon's website, which is governed by Amazon's privacy policy.
All personal data (skin profile, routines, progress, check-ins) is stored locally on your device. We do not maintain user accounts or server-side databases of personal information. If you delete the App, all local data is permanently removed.
The App may request permission to send push notifications for routine reminders. These are scheduled locally on your device. You can disable notifications at any time through iOS Settings.
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Since your data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can delete all App data by deleting the App from your device. You can retake the skin quiz at any time to reset your profile.
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the App and on this page with an updated effective date.
